Job summary

New Leaf Community Markets, Inc. in Seacliff, CA is seeking a Prepared Foods Assistant Manager to partner with the Prepared Foods Manager in overseeing daily department operations, staff development and financial stewardship.

You will ensure product quality, food safety, merchandising, and outstanding customer service while planning inventories, displays and seasonal promotions. This role combines hands-on leadership with coaching and performance feedback.

Qualifications

• Previous food service, retail or grocery management experience required.
• Knowledge of retail grocery Prepared Foods, Deli or food production department and / or similar restaurant, café or food industry experience required.
• Entry to mid-level computer proficiency required.
• Experience with Excel and inventory software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all areas of the department with the Prepared Foods Manager.
• Coach and develop department staff, set schedules and assign tasks.
• Maintain inventory levels and ensure on-shelf conditions.
• Plan and execute weekly ads, events and holidays.
• Maintain vendor relationships and product displays.
• Ensure food safety, quality, and customer service standards.
• Process orders and manage perishable inventory.
• Balance labor, sales and margins with department manager.
