Job summary

Avanti Senior Living in Lafayette, LA is seeking a dedicated cook to join our culinary team, delivering nutritious meals with hospitality in mind for our residents.

You will assist the chef, prepare meals, maintain cleanliness, follow safety protocols, and support event catering while upholding Avanti's values.

This role requires flexibility to work holidays and special events and strong teamwork with staff and external partners.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work with the elderly in a senior living environment.
• Able to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.
• Able to prepare food in a senior housing environment, meeting hospitality and service standards.
• Able to work on all holidays and during special events.
• Good knife skills and familiarity with cooking methods.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff and external constituents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef in all daily activities.
• Assist in all meal service prep.
• Wash all resident’s dishes during meal service.
• Assist in preparing and stocking room service cart and running room service trays as needed.
• Assist in preparation of salads, soups and desserts.
• Maintain or exceed standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
• Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures.
• Attend all in-services as required.
• Follow all policies regarding food handling.
• Assist with documentation of temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
• Promote the Vision, Values, and Mission of Avanti Senior Living.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for food preparation that meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards of Avanti.

Prepare all foods to meet quality, quantity and deadline requirements. Carry through commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, teamwork and quality to our Residents.

• Other duties as assigned or may be necessary in an organization having overlapping roles and responsibilities.
