St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, is seeking a part-time Prep Cook. This position offers daytime hours that align with the school calendar, with summers off. Perfect for someone who values work-life balance and wants to contribute meaningfully while enjoying flexibility outside of traditional 9-5 schedules. The hours are generally Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. The position begins annually on August 20th and ends on May 20th.

Non-Exempt Scheduled Weekly Hours: 18

Responsibilities

• Attend daily staff huddles, staff in-services, and required training, including AllerTrain, ServSafe, Emergency Action Plans, and departmental updates.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary food production environment.
• Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and work areas.
• Prepare menu items according to standardized recipes for meal plans, catering events, and cash operations.
• Assist chefs and supervisors with the preparation and production of ingredients for meal plans, catering events, and cash operations.
• Follow safe work practices and maintain awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and departmental procedures.
• Ensure food quality and consistency through proper batch production, adherence to standardized recipes, and monitoring of freshness and presentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with quantity food preparation preferred.
• 1-2 years of food production experience in an institutional setting preferred.
• Knowledge of state sanitation and food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to communicate professionally and resolve concerns appropriately.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions.
• Ability to serve as a positive role model for coworkers and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
• Ability to maintain concentration and focus in a busy, noisy work environment.
