Stationed at: Gil’s Elegant Catering facility, Grand Prairie, TX
Responsibilities
- Set up and sanitize workstations.
- Follow prep lists created by the lead culinary team.
- Measure ingredients and seasonings; prepare cooking ingredients such as soups and stocks.
- Prepare simple dishes as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Ensure all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
- Assist chefs in food preparation and attend to any culinary tasks that arise.
- Supervise food and cooling room temperatures.
- Accept or reject ingredients from suppliers.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.
- Maintain the highest level of food quality with the culinary team.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen; catering experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation/service with a strong understanding of BEO execution, reading production sheets, and completing tasks.
- ServSafe certified or willing to receive training.
- Comfortable commuting to Grand Prairie, TX.
- Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner.
- Excellent listening, communication skills, and customer service.
- Strong planning and multi‑tasking abilities.
- Self‑motivated with high energy level and strong verbal communication.
- Understanding of food safety practices, including temperature logs and cleaning/sanitizing paperwork.
Work Environment
This position primarily works in a kitchen utilizing standard equipment such as knives, mixers, ovens, and hot pans. The role requires frequent movement in and out of coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas while navigating various types of flooring.
Uniform Requirements
Adherence to company uniform requirements as outlined in the Associate Handbook and orientation guidelines. Non‑slip shoes are required.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods moving through an event space and traveling throughout the venue.
- Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items.
- Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
