Job summary

KIPP NYC is seeking a Prep Cook to join our Culinary Team. This full-time, on-site role supports breakfast, lunch, and snacks for students and staff across our campuses in NYC.

Reporting to the Head Chef or Sous Chef, you will help prepare ingredients, maintain sanitation, and deliver high-quality meals with a student-centered approach. Previous commercial kitchen experience is preferred, but we welcome motivated learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a commercial kitchen or school nutrition is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness is preferred or willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh fruits, vegetables, salads, and other menu components per recipes and schedules.
• Assist with ingredients and food items for breakfast, lunch, snack service, and events.
• Portion and serve meals to students and staff with a welcoming, respectful service.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, allergens, and proper techniques.
• Support catering events and daily kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the day.
