Job summary

Vandelay Companies is seeking a Prep Cook for Hudson House, a neighborhood restaurant known for East Coast-inspired comfort food and hospitality. You will support the culinary team by preparing ingredients per recipes, portioning, and cooking to standards, maintaining cleanliness and safety, and assisting chefs with a range of tasks.

You must be at least 18, have 1–2 years kitchen experience, strong knife skills, and a food handler certification.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 1–2 years of culinary or hospitality experience in a full-service, high-volume kitchen.
• Strong knife skills and experience working on both hot and cold prep.
• Food handler certification as required by state and local agencies.

Responsibilities

• Support the Culinary Manager, Assistant Culinary Manager, and kitchen team with daily tasks.
• Prepare ingredients according to standardized recipes, portioning guidelines, and quality standards.
• Execute prep tasks with accuracy, consistency, and urgency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, following safety protocols.
• Label, date, store, and rotate ingredients using FIFO.
• Communicate shortages or equipment concerns promptly to leadership.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly per training.
