Job summary

Powers Health is seeking a Prep Cook for CVI - Independent Living at Hartsfield Village. This 0.6 FTE position supports daily meal prep, coordination with serving times, and adherence to recipes and safety standards.

Candidates should have two years of cook experience, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and work well in a busy kitchen with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must stand, walk, and be active throughout shift; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Two years of cook experience required; food service background preferred.
• Strong teamwork and effective communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals using standardized recipes safely, efficiently, and sanitary.
• Determines food and supplies needed; coordinates meal production with serving hours.
• Ensures proper preparation, portioning, and serving as per menu and recipes.
• Maintains appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
• Assists with training and orientation of new kitchen staff.
• Follows state sanitation regulations and food handling policies.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Prepares meals using standardized recipes in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner
• Determines food and supplies needed and coordinates meal production with serving hours
• Ensures proper preparation, portioning, and serving of foods as indicated on the menu and standardized recipes
• Maintains or exceeds standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health
• Assists with training and orientation of new kitchen staff
• Ensures state sanitation regulations and follows all policies regarding food handling

Qualifications and Experience:

Must be able to regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, and crouch. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds. Effective communication and teamwork skills.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Two years of previous cook experience required.

Seeking individuals with a strong sense of teamwork and the ability to communicate with their team to maintain efficient operations in the kitchen. Flexible and willing to complete tasks as assigned. Previous experience in food service required.
