Merrill & Houston’s Steak Joint, Beloit, WI, is seeking a Prep Cook to join our team. You’ll prepare and cook items using standardized recipes, ensure food safety, and support a fast-paced service environment. A ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain one within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience, non-fast food restaurant and/or training in a culinary school required.
• Have ServSafe Certification or be willing to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
• Be able to keep up with a fast paced environment
• Position subject to irregular hours to include late nights, weekends and holidays
• Must be 18 years old
• Able to perform with minimum supervision

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food items according to recipes using correct handling procedures.
• Maintain proper par levels of production according to prep sheets.
• Test food by taste testing and checking temperatures per Serv Safe guidelines.
• Ensure workstation is stocked and ready for each shift.
• Understand menu ingredients and build each dish to order.
• Label, rotate, and date food containers; keep perishables at proper temps.
• Clean station and storage areas after each shift; observe food safety standards.
