Job summary

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is seeking a cook to join our culinary team at our Orlando location. You’ll prepare high-quality foods following menu specifications, operate open flame grills, smokers, steam kettles and wok stations, and ensure every dish meets safety and allergen standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, assembling meals, and delivering excellent service to guests while working in a dynamic environment across opening, mid, and closing shifts.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of cooking experience or equivalent culinary training.
  • Ability to work with all food types including allergen considerations.
  • Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
  • Pass SafeStaff training and RCS; complete Responsible Vendor Training (alcohol).
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee final prepared food quality and ensure adherence to menu specifications.
  • Cook high-quality food to menu specs and use appropriate kitchen equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients: chop vegetables, fruits and meats; assemble wraps, sandwiches and salads.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in assigned areas.
  • Incorporate knowledge of top eight allergens into dietary meal prep and interact with guests professionally.

What you get to do:
  • You’ll prepare high quality food that meets SeaWorld standards by following menu specifications.
  • You will follow all safety and HACCP guidelines, use proper protective gear, and test food temperatures.
  • You will also:
  • Oversee final prepared food quality
  • Cook high-quality food to menu specifications
  • Utilize advanced and non-automated kitchen equipment, including open flame char grill, smokers, steam kettles, woks and large bakery machinery
  • Complete food prep by cutting and chopping of vegetables, fruits and meats
  • Assemble wraps, sandwiches, salads, fruit cups, etc.
  • Keep all assigned areas clean and sanitary
  • Incorporate knowledge of top eight allergens into the preparation of dietary meals
  • Interact with Ambassadors and guests and deliver excellent service
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What it takes to succeed:
  • Ability to work with all food types, including food allergens, in any dining facility
  • At least one year of cooking experience or a combination of cooking experience and culinary school
  • Basic knife skills
  • Ability to pass SafeStaff training and RCS
  • Responsible Vendor Training (alcohol)
  • Ability to train on and use protective gear and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to multi task in a fast-paced, high-production environment
  • Ability to prepare special dietary meals
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors and our Guests
  • Valid state driver's license preferred
  • In-depth food safety and allergen knowledge a plus
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What else is important:
  • Able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat.
  • Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes
  • Perform cleaning duties; including use of cleaning chemicals
  • Work a flexible schedule/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
