Arlo Hotels, an independent lifestyle hotel, is now actively seeking a dynamic Prep Cook.

The main business of any restaurant is providing the highest quality of food possible to keep customers satisfied. This effort depends heavily on kitchen staff, especially prep cooks, who set the stage for the chefs and line cooks.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

• Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations.
• Maintain honesty and integrity.
• Deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences.
• Coordinate and multi-task in an active environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Prepare ingredients for daily menu offerings.
• Wash, chop, grate, and slice vegetables for dishes, salads, soups, and appetizers as per prep lists.
• Complete daily prep lists fully and store properly.
• Obtain taste and sign-off from the Executive Chef or Sous Chef for all prepped items.
• Prepare meat for cooking, including cutting or slicing into appropriate portions.
• Follow recipes accurately as directed by the Sous Chef.
• Practice proper food cooling and storage techniques.
• Keep work areas clean, sanitized, and organized, including prep tables, sinks, walk-ins, low boys, floors, and dry storage.
• Use food service equipment safely, including knives, pots, pans, ovens, grills, food processors, and slicers.
• Handle sharp cutlery with care at all times.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 2 years of prep or line cook experience in NYC at a comparable restaurant or hotel.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for 8 hours or more.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Good knife skills.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment such as vita prep, robo coup, ovens, and burners.

Salary: $18.00 per hour.
