Job summary

Vandelay Hospitality Group is seeking a Prep Cook in Dallas to support the culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. You will prepare ingredients according to recipes, portion and cook to standards while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.

You will assist chefs, uphold food safety guidelines, and contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate has 1+ year hospitality experience, strong knife skills, and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relative experience in hospitality industry.
  • Strong knife skills and experience on hot and cold line.
  • Maintain proper food certifications specific to State Laws
  • Energetic, accountable and team oriented.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Culinary Manager and kitchen team with daily tasks.
  • Maintain all kitchen prep standards and all aspects of the culinary program.
  • Execute all assigned prep tasks with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in daily setup and breakdown of the kitchen and protect equipment.
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Assume responsibility for all ingredient prep.
  • Participate in teamwork and foster harmonious working climate.
  • Embrace change and deliver top results.
  • Adheres to food service safety guidelines as required by State and Local Agencies.

Job description

A Prep Cook with Vandelay Hospitality is a crucial role responsible for supporting the culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. In this position, you will prepare ingredients according to recipes, portioning, and cooking standards, ensuring consistency and quality. Key duties include maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards, and assisting chefs with various tasks. The Prep Cook supports the team by being punctual, reliable, and efficient, while continuously learning and improving culinary skills.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Culinary Manager, Assistant Culinary Manager, and all kitchen team members with daily tasks to ensure readiness for service
  • Maintain all kitchen prep standards and all aspects of the culinary program
  • Execute all assigned prep tasks with the highest possible standards of accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Assist in daily setup and break down of the kitchen as requested and take great care of the equipment and facilities
  • Consistently uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Assume responsibility for all ingredient prep
  • Participate in teamwork and foster harmonious working climate
  • Embrace change and deliver top results no matter the obstacle
  • Adheres to food service safety and sanitation guidelines as required by State and Local Agencies.
Requirements

  • Must be able to work standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
