ABOUT US
Homegrown Hospitality Group

OVERVIEW
Homegrown Hospitality Group is now hiring a Prep Cook. The primary purpose of this position is to create a unique and personal experience for our Guests by maintaining a clean, safe and presentable restaurant for all guests and employees throughout each shift, each day. This role will focus their attention on the preparation and safe storage of food in the kitchen with some responsibilities crossing over to other kitchen positions.

The Homegrown Hospitality Group consists of 9 different business concepts and over 15 locations located throughout South Carolina in Charleston, Columbia, and Myrtle Beach. Multiple concepts, multiple locations, one big family!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Helps maintain cleanliness in the back of house, storage and walk-in cooler areas, as well as help maintain the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the external garbage area in conjunction with other essential kitchen staff.
  • Preps all food in accordance to food safety and company specification standards, labeling and storing properly.
  • Practices the safe handling and storage of products, cleaning utensils and chemicals in accordance to state law and creates an environment safe and hazard-free.
  • Follows instructions in accordance to use of chemicals and their disposal, equipment and use of wet floor signs at all times.
  • Helps maintain all garbage inside and outside of the restaurant during prep hours by changing it out regularly when full, and keeps the area where garbage is stored clean and free of pests.
  • Examines, labels and stores all incoming food supplies, paper and chemical supplies in storage and refrigeration areas appropriately.
  • Helps clean and maintain all equipment and small wares used in the kitchen.
  • Can operate a dish machine, understands how to measure sanitizer and soap levels in a three-bay sink and handles each piece of equipment and small wares safely and properly while washing and storing.
  • Applies expert knowledge of specs.
  • Supports Line Cooks when needed as back up.
  • Maintains work areas in a sanitized and orderly manner in compliance with state health and safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience working in a kitchen or as a prep cook preferred.
  • Superior teamwork and hospitality skills.
  • Knowledgeable of proper sanitation, food safety, and security procedures.
  • Knowledge of Homegrown Hospitality Group’s food menus.
  • Knowledgeable of current initiatives and upcoming events as they relate to position.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interaction skills in order to work alongside essential kitchen staff.
  • Skilled in time management and organization with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and execute team and company objectives.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to use a scale and measure out by weight and volume.
  • Knowledge of equipment operations in the back of house as it relates to job.
  • Conflict management skills, analytical skills, and a high degree of emotional intelligence in order to recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to follow specific service time and guidelines while engaging with line cooks, dishwashers and other essential kitchen team members.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for an extended period of time.
  • Must be reliable and dependable by adhering to a schedule, covering shifts as necessary, and being on time for scheduled shifts.

INTERACTION

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all Team Members and managers.
  • Work as a contributing member of a team.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Polite vendor interaction with delivery personnel for food, linen, chemical, pest control, etc.
