Pay: $19.91/hour
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Collaborates with the Youth Food Program Manager to meet the daily operational goals.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with the BYC staff, volunteers, and program participants to ensure timely and coordinated service.
  • Executes the daily prep list, which changes based on the menu and operational needs.
  • Follows standardized recipes and directions to ensure consistent food quality.
  • Sets up, maintains, and breaks down service stations before and after every meal service.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and utensils in compliance with the City of Chicago health guidelines.
  • Stocks incoming food deliveries and organizes food storage areas to maintain cleanliness and inventory rotation.
  • Maintains records in compliance with HACCP including cooking, holding and cooling temperatures per City of Chicago health code requirements.
  • Performs related work and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking, required.
  • Functional and proficient knowledge and practice of various models of integrated care.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of equity, inclusion and diversity concepts, and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender.
  • Knowledge of health disparities, substance use and domestic violence issues, especially within LGBTQ community.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, in terms of understanding their own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes.
  • Ability to document effectively in an electronic health record environment.
  • Ability to work affirmatively with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and HIV positive patients.
ADA SPECIFICATIONS
  • Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
  • Requires ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment.
  • Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • May require occasional bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • May require periodic travel.
