Job summary

Fin & Crab in Charleston, SC is seeking a talented Prep Chef to join our kitchen team. This role offers a fast-paced environment where quality and teamwork drive every service.

You will perform mise en place, prep sauces and stocks, ensure sanitation, rotate and label items, and assist line cooks during peak times to maintain high standards. Prior kitchen experience and basic knife skills are preferred, with food handler certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen or food service.
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper storage procedures.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily mise en place, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients to chef specifications.
• Prepare sauces, marinades, stocks, and other foundational components ahead of service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with food safety standards.
• Rotate and label food items properly, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
• Assist line cooks and kitchen staff during high-volume service periods as needed.
• Receive and inspect food deliveries, storing items according to proper food handling procedures.
• Follow recipes and plating guides consistently to uphold quality standards.
