Job summary

Medical City Plano is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our operating room team. The role involves evaluating patients pre-operation, educating families about procedures and perioperative care, and ensuring correct patient preparation including IV therapy and medications.

You will participate in time-out and debriefing processes and respond to emergencies, all within a high‑standard, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• RN registered nurse required upon start date.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment start date.
• BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS within 90 days of employment start date.
• Associate degree in nursing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures.
