Job summary

Medical City Frisco is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Pre-Op Outpatient Services. You will evaluate patients before surgery, provide education to patients and families, and prepare patients with IV therapy and preoperative meds.

You will participate in surgical time-outs and universal protocols, monitor patients, and document changes throughout your shift. The position requires ACLS/BCLS/PALS within specified days, a BSN, and 1+ years in pre-op (1+ year CC preferred).

Qualifications

• ACLS within 90 days of start date
• BCLS within 30 days of start date
• PALS within 90 days of start date
• RN - Registered Nurse
• BSN required
• 1+ years Pre-op experience
• 1+ years Critical Care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time out, debriefing) and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care following evidence-based practices
• Be an integral member of the interdisciplinary team
• Apply nursing process, clinical judgment, and leadership to deliver safe care
• Assess patient condition, monitor changes, and document care
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up
