Job summary

Medical City Plano, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse Operating Room PRN to join a collaborative surgical team in Plano, TX. The role emphasizes patient safety, education, and perioperative care in a fast-paced operating room environment.

You will work with providers, surgeons, and staff to ensure high-quality nursing care, with on-call requirements for select non-business hours. Experience in acute settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• 1+ year of acute hospital or circulating experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery and coordinate perioperative care.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and recovery.
• Prepare patients, administer IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Assist in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• respond to patient emergencies and maintain safety throughout shift.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with surgeons, techs and interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and documentation accurately.
• Monitor patient condition and communicate changes to team.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up steps.
