Job summary

AdventHealth in Castle Rock, Colorado, is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PRN Day shift. The role involves comprehensive patient education from admission to discharge, medication administration, and coordination of care in a high-acuity setting.

The position offers premium pay and potential to convert to permanent staff within AdventHealth systems. Required include an Associate degree, 2 years preop or PACU experience, RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

Qualifications

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows-based programs.
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills).

Responsibilities

• Provides education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering care plans, medications, tests, procedures, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education and initiates referrals as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain and maintains a safe environment.
• Administers medications accurately and responds to unit and hospital codes.
• Provides nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support and assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off orders and collects lab samples as ordered.
• Evaluates the care plan for safety and effectiveness.

Job Description:

Schedule: 36-40 hours per week; This position will be either a 4 10-hour shift or 3 12-hour shift role. It will require 3-4 overnight call shifts in a 6-week period.

Pay: $70/hr

Job Details

• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes. Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain according to policy and maintains a safe care environment.
• Administers medications accurately as ordered. Responds to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off physician orders and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluates the nursing care plan to ensure safe, competent care delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
