Job summary

AdventHealth in Denver, Colorado is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will participate in education from admission to discharge, coordinate with physicians, and support families with care plans and instructions.

The role requires an Associate degree, RN license, BLS, ACLS/PALS/TNCC as preferred, and at least 2 years acute hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to assess patient needs and adapt care plans.
• Proficient with Windows-based computer systems used in care settings.
• Fluent in English in reading, speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide education to patients and families from admission to discharge.
• Document education and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Deliver competent nursing care and respond to code situations.
• Administer medications accurately and assist with procedures.
• Manage admissions, transfers and discharges professionally.
• Verify orders and collect lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluate care plans for safety and quality.

Job Details:

• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes. Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain according to policy and maintains a safe care environment.
• Administers medications accurately as ordered. Responds to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off physician orders and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluates the nursing care plan to ensure safe, competent care delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes. [Required]
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows-based programs. [Required]
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills) [Required]
