Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a registered nurse for a PRN travel assignment in Castle Rock, CO. The role involves 36-40 hours per week with a 4x10 or 3x12 shift pattern and overnight call shifts. Pay is $80/hour with a direct AdventHealth employment path and travel assignment benefits.

Responsibilities include patient education, medication administration, and supportive care from admission to discharge, in a fast-paced acute hospital setting.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required (RN) and current CPR/BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.
• 2 years of preop or PACU nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Fluent in English with ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide education to patients and families from admission to discharge.
• Document education and patient responses in the medical record.
• Administer medications and assist with bedside procedures.
• Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Respond to unit and hospital codes and maintain safe patient care.

• Schedule: 36-40 hours per week; This position will be either a 4 10-hour shift or 3 12-hour shift role. It will require 3-4 overnight call shifts in a 6-week period.
• Pay: $80/hr

Job Details

• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes.
• Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain according to policy and maintains a safe care environment.
• Administers medications accurately as ordered.
• Responds to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off physician orders and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluates the nursing care plan to ensure safe, competent care delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.

• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows-based programs.
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)
