Job summary

Boston Eye Surgery and Laser Center seeks a Registered Nurse for comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care. You will admit and prepare patients for surgery, perform admission assessments, and ensure all paperwork is complete before medications or OR transfer.

The role includes post-operative recovery, discharge planning with the anesthesia team and surgeon, and meticulous documentation in EPIC. CPR and ACLS certification and MA RN licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensed RN in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in medical-surgical or recovery room.
• CPR and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Admit and prepare patients for surgery.
• Perform preoperative assessment and notify anesthesia/surgeon of abnormalities.
• Ensure required paperwork is present before medications and/or OR.
• Provide patient teaching for anesthesia/surgical procedure.
• Explain post-operative progress, discharge instructions to patient and family.
• Coordinate discharge with anesthesia and surgeon.
• Record narcotic use and maintain supplies in pre-op/recovery area.
• Use EPIC for documentation.
