Kansas City Urology Center in the Kansas City area is seeking a Perioperative Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery center team as a PRN (as needed) PreOp PACU nurse. You will plan, execute, and evaluate preoperative and postoperative nursing care until discharge, while upholding the high standards of Surgery Ventures powered by HCA Healthcare.

The role emphasizes patient assessment, medication administration, IV care, discharge readiness, and collaboration with surgeons.

Qualifications

• ADN or RN diploma required
• 1+ year nursing experience in PACU/ICU/surgery preferred
• Active RN license required
• BCLS certification required on employment (online not acceptable)
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire
• PALS if required by facility within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Prepare care area before case
• Ensure equipment and supplies available
• Conduct physical and history/diagnostic assessments
• Administer pre-operative medications and IV therapy
• Maintain IV catheters and dressings
• Check operative site and report abnormalities
• Ensure discharge criteria are met

Job Summary And Qualifications

Join our team as a Perioperative Nurse in our ambulatory surgery center. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care rendered preoperatively and postoperatively until your patients are discharged. What you will do in this role:

• Prepare your patients’ care area adequately before case
• Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patients’ procedure
• Conduct complete physical, and psychological assessment and evaluation of your patients’ history and diagnostic tests
• Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed
• You will exhibit proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks
• Check dressings and/or operative site of your patients and report abnormalities to the surgeon
• Ensure your patients meet discharge criteria

Qualifications you will need:

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher degree in Nursing Required
• 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery
• Active RN license as required by state of employment
• BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable
• ACLS required within 30-days of hire
• PALS if required by facility within 30-days of hire
