Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance seeks an experienced PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse for our new Ambulatory Surgery Center in Lenexa. You will oversee PreOp and PACU nursing teams, manage patient flow, and ensure safe, efficient perioperative care for orthopedic patients.

Requirements include Kansas RN licensure and at least 3 years perioperative nursing experience, with ambulatory surgery expertise preferred. No call, no weekends, no nights; comprehensive benefits provided.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Kansas (required).
• Minimum of 3 years of perioperative nursing experience.
• Ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting experience preferred.
• Experience in PreOp and/or PACU nursing required; dual competency preferred.

Responsabilités

• Direct and coordinate nursing activities in PreOp and PACU, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
• Serve as clinical resource and on-floor supervisor for RN, LPN, and patient care technician staff.
• Manage patient flow and room turnover to maintain OR schedule efficiency.
• Mentor and support nursing staff, especially those new to ambulatory orthopedic care.
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from anesthesia with orthopedic pain management focus.
• Provide discharge instructions emphasizing orthopedic precautions, wound care, DVT prophylaxis, and follow-up.

We are seeking an experienced PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse

who can work in Pre-Op and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role is vital in ensuring the highest quality of perioperative care for our patients, contributing significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional orthopedic services.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing activities in PreOp and PACU, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix for scheduled orthopedic case volumes.
• Serve as the clinical resource and on-floor supervisor for RN, LPN, and patient care technician staff throughout the shift.
• Manage patient flow and room turnover to maintain OR schedule efficiency and minimize delays.
• Mentor and support nursing staff, particularly those new to ambulatory orthopedic care.
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from general, regional, and neuraxial anesthesia, with expertise in pain management for orthopedic postoperative patients.
• Provide thorough discharge instructions with emphasis on orthopedic-specific precautions, wound care, DVT prophylaxis, weight-bearing status, and follow-up care.
• Oversee proper medication management, including controlled substance handling and documentation per DEA and facility policy.
• Conduct and document daily environmental safety rounds and equipment inspections.

Experience

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas, in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of perioperative nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting preferred.
• Experience in PreOp and/or PACU nursing required; dual competency in both areas strongly preferred.
