Job summary

SHIELDS for Families in Lynwood, CA seeks a Parent Coach to conduct prenatal and postpartum home visits, supporting families through pregnancy and early parenthood. The role requires empathy, client-centered care, and collaboration with nurses, coaches and staff to ensure comprehensive services.

You will educate on maternal and infant health, breastfeeding, safety, parenting, and connect families to resources, completing assessments and documentation with attention to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Requires AA degree; BA degree preferred.
• Lactation and Motivational Interviewing (MI) certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Bilingual skills preferred to serve the community.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prenatal and postpartum home visits to support families.
• Collaborate with Welcome Baby Nurses, coaches, supervisors and staff to ensure care continuity.
• Provide education, guidance on prenatal/postnatal care, infant health, breastfeeding and parenting.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes; perform data entry.
• Attend trainings, staff meetings and supervision; uphold program policies and HIPAA requirements.
