Job summary

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. seeks a Premium Cook to supervise all food preparation activities and uphold high hygiene standards in our onsite kitchens. You will prepare soups, sauces, hot and cold dishes, and advise Standard Cooks on portions and prep lists.

You will train Line Cooks, monitor temperatures and storage, and ensure efficient, quality service in a fast-paced environment while upholding guest experiences and safety. Hourly pay is provided with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Proven cooking experience required.
  • Bachelor’s or associated degree in Culinary Arts is advantageous.
  • Food handler’s license required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing meal ingredients (washing, peeling, cutting, marinating).
  • Prepare soups, salads, and sauces as instructed by the Chef.
  • Plate and garnish items according to Chef instructions.
  • Supervise Line Cooks to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain adequately stocked stations and equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize cooking stations and surfaces before/after shifts.
  • Adhere to standard food rotation and DOH standards to reduce waste/contamination.
  • Assess quality of delivered supplies against pre-determined standards.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for guests and team members on-site.

Who are we hiring?

We are looking to hire a hard-working and experienced Premium Cook to supervise all food preparation activities and ensure that high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained. The Premium Cooks responsibilities include preparing soups, sauces, hot and cold food items. advising our Standard Cooks on suitable portion sizes, prep lists and ensuring that food items are stored at the correct temperatures. You should also be able to train Line Cooks and attend all mandatory meetings.To be successful as a Premium Cook, you should be knowledgeable of various cooking techniques and have a passion for food. Ultimately, an exceptional Premium Cook should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

What will you do?
  • Assisting in preparing meal ingredients, which includes washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing fruits and vegetables as well as marinating meats.
  • Preparing soups, salads, and sauces as instructed by the Chef.
  • Plating and garnishing meal items in accordance with the instructions provided by the Chef.
  • Supervising the work of Line Cooks to ensure that all given tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all cooking stations are adequately stocked with the necessary meal ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Ensuring that all cooking stations and kitchen surfaces are cleaned and disinfected before and after each shift.
  • Adhering to standard food rotation practices and DOH Standards to reduce food wastage and minimize the risk of contamination.
  • Assessing the quality of delivered food supplies to ensure that it meet pre- determined standards.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
What do you need to succeed?
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of aHigh School diploma or GED.
  • Proven cooking experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s orassociatedegree in Culinary Arts is advantageous.
  • A food handler’s license required
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Special Requirements
  • Must be able stand for long periods.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting required

Hourly Pay Range

$29.75—$29.75 USD
