Job summary

Horace Mann is seeking a detail-oriented Premium Accounting Analyst to support accurate processing, reconciliation, and management of premium payments and customer accounts. You will research and resolve payment discrepancies, reconcile premium activity to the General Ledger, manage suspense accounts, and ensure billing and payment transactions are processed accurately and timely.

You’ll collaborate with internal teams, financial institutions, and policy payors to maintain premium accounting

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, premium accounting, general accounting, or related financial operations.
Strong analytical, research, and reconciliation skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

Receive, research, and process premium payments rejected by financial institutions.
Balance processing systems to the General Ledger daily for Lockbox, Credit Card, and Bank Draft transactions.
Ensure premium billing is accurate across Credit Card, Bank Draft, and Direct Notice payment methods.
Code premium check exceptions for Lockbox processing.
Investigate premium accounting discrepancies and determine corrective action.
