Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited High School or GED equivalent.
• Certified by BCAIB as a Standard Inspector or Florida Registered Architect / Florida Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Pathways include Architect/Engineer, Standard Inspector, Licensed Contractor, Supervisory Construction, General Construction with HVHZ experience.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the South Florida Building Code and Town ordinances for new construction, alterations, repairs, and materials.
• Review plots, structural framing, and general building facilities for design quality and workmanship.
• Inspect new and existing buildings for safety code conformance and issue inspection certificates.
• Maintain inspection records and reports.
• Consult with other inspectors and the Chief Structural Inspector on policies and problems.
• Consult with contractors, architects, engineers on construction codes and plans.
• Review and pass upon building plans and alternations.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Florida Registered Architect

Florida Licensed Professional Engineer

BCAIB Standard Inspector certification

Unlimited General Contractor license by exam
