Job summary

Nimble is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support classroom teachers in Merrillville, Indiana, during the school year. You will work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives and assist in implementing educational plans.

Responsibilities include guiding independent and remedial work, supervising students during drills and field trips, providing accommodations per IEPs, communicating with teachers, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 2 years of college experience; or associates degree; or Paraprofessional Certificate.
• Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes.
• Experience with Special Education Instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on the sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies and field trips.
• Provides assistance and monitors progress of students receiving services.
• Provides accommodations for students based on their IEPs.
• Communicates with the general education teacher on any issues or special information about an individual student.
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Teacher of Record.
