Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking a Classroom Para Educator to provide instructional assistance, classroom support, and help implement effective strategies to meet diverse student needs. The role supports teachers and collaborates with staff to foster a positive learning environment in Western Massachusetts.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED; preferred are higher education credentials and Work Keys/Paraprofessional scores.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred: Associate/BA degree or 60 college credits.
• BA with Educator Licensure is preferred.
• Experience with special education settings is preferred.
• Passing Work Keys/Paraprofessional Assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Supports direct instruction to children individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
• Provides assistance with classroom activities.
• Prepares instructional materials.
• Manages individual and classroom behavior.
• Supervises students on field trips.
• Performs other support services and related duties as requested by Building Principal.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Associate of Arts or Science Degree or higher, or 60 undergraduate college credits

BA Degree with Educator Licensure

Experience working with special education students in education settings

Meeting or exceeding the State mandated score on the Paraprofessional Assessment or Work Keys Assessment
