Job summary

Irving ISD is seeking an Early Childhood Instructional Aide to support classroom teachers by assisting with instructional activities and student supervision. You will help implement programs, manage behavior, and provide individualized or small-group instruction under the teacher’s direction.

The role requires an Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate and a high school diploma or GED, with bilingual English/Spanish preferred in some settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining administrative records and required reports.

• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

DEPARTMENT: Assigned Campus

Primary Purpose

Assist the classroom teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self‑help, behavior management, and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
• High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to work well with children
• Proficient communication skills
• Ability to operate computer using a variety of basic applications
• Knowledge of general office equipment

Major Responsibilities And Duties

• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
• Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
• Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
• Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
• Assist students with activities of personal care which can including diapering, toileting, and/or dressing
• Any other duties as assigned by Campus Principal.
