Job summary

The University of Vienna invites applications for a Scientific project assistant predoctoral to join the newly established EurAsian Transformations Cluster. You will help coordinate the Cluster's Digital Humanities activities and support research data management and digital infrastructures.

Working with ACDH-CH and partner institutions, you will help develop sustainable workflows, organize workshops, and advise researchers on FAIR principles and metadata standards.

Qualifications

  • Completed Master's degree in Digital Humanities or a relevant humanities discipline with a strong Digital Humanities component.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in research data management, digital research infrastructures, or Digital Humanities methods.
  • Familiarity with FAIR principles, metadata standards, interoperability, and sustainable digital workflows.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Very good written and spoken English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
  • Experience with semantic technologies, knowledge organization, ontologies, or Digital Humanities training activities is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Digital Humanities and research infrastructure activities across the Cluster.
  • Support the development of the Cluster's metacatalogue and related digital services.
  • Advise researchers on research data management, FAIR principles, metadata, and interoperability.
  • Facilitate collaboration between Cluster projects, the University of Vienna, and the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH).
  • Contribute to the development of shared standards, documentation, and sustainable digital workflows.
  • Organize workshops, training activities, and consultation formats for researchers, doctoral candidates, and students.
  • Support the integration of Digital Humanities methods into teaching and training activities.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategic development of the Cluster's digital research ecosystem and to preparations for the second funding phase, particularly with regard to interoperability, sustainability, and the integration of heterogeneous forms of scholarly evidence.
