Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated in Boston invites a six-month Predictive Models Co‑Op for students pursuing advanced degrees in Biological Sciences or related fields. The role focuses on developing predictive in vitro assays to study islet engraftment, restoring function under stress, and biomarker research.

You will work within a collaborative team on islet systems under transplantation-relevant stress, gain hands-on experience in assay development, data analysis, and scientific reporting,

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Biological Sciences or related field required.
• Strong organizational, analytical and scientific documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret experimental data and communicate results clearly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support design, planning, and execution of in vitro studies using islet-based systems.
• Perform cell-based assays to evaluate viability, function, stress responses and biomarkers.
• Evaluate transplantation-relevant stress conditions and implantation-environment models.
• Identify assay readouts that may correlate with engraftment and in vivo outcomes.
• Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental data; maintain detailed records.
• Communicate progress and findings clearly to project team; prepare final summary.
