Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Predictive Models Co-Op to contribute to islet engraftment research and translational biomarker studies. You will work on cell-based assay development within a collaborative team, under supervision, delivering data and insights to drive project decisions.

The six-month, full-time program runs January to July 2027, on-site in Boston, with competitive pay and strong learning opportunities. Don’t miss the November 15, 2026 deadline.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Biological Sciences or related field.
• Basic lab experience with cell-based assays and mammalian culture.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret data and communicate results clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Collaborative yet able to work independently on tasks.
• Familiarity with viability, function, and biomarker assays.
• US work authorization; internship sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and execution of in vitro studies using islet-based systems.
• Perform cell viability and function assays and monitor stress responses.
• Evaluate transplantation-relevant stress conditions and implantation models.
• Identify readouts correlating with engraftment and outcomes.
• Analyze and summarize experimental data; maintain records.
• Communicate progress and results to the project team.
• Prepare final presentation and project summary.
• Collaborate cross-functionally while managing activities.
