Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Predictive Models Co-Op for a 6-month program in Boston. You will contribute to the development of in vitro assays for islet engraftment and performance, while collaborating with a cross-functional team on translational biomarker research.

The role provides hands-on lab experience in cell-based assay development, data analysis, and scientific communication, with mentorship and growth opportunities throughout the program.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required (Master's/PhD).
• Basic lab experience with cell-based assays or mammalian cell culture.
• Strong ability to interpret experimental data and communicate results clearly in writing and verbally.
• Detail-oriented approach to experimental execution, data recording, and quality of work.

Responsibilities

• Support design, planning, and execution of in vitro studies using islet-based systems.
• Perform cell-based assays to evaluate viability, function, and stress responses; biomarker profiling.
• Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental data; maintain accurate records and communicate findings to the team.
• Prepare a final presentation or written project summary with conclusions and next steps.
