Job summary

Baker Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Specialist to support proposal development, estimating, and document control. You will coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, BIM/VDC, and Contracts to prepare CWPs, IWPs, and bid materials for preconstruction activities. Travel up to 25% is required as projects vary across regions.

The role emphasizes data accuracy, standard procedures, and collaboration with multiple departments to deliver competitive bids and successful project starts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4+ years related experience in controls, purchasing, contracts or engineering
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with estimating software and CRM systems
• Proficiency with Excel and project controls tools

Responsibilities

• Supports all aspects of Proposal Development and Estimating functions, maintaining historical data and standard procedures
• Controls document management for Preconstruction, prepares and checks QTOs, levels subcontractor and vendor proposals
• Develops and maintains Work Packages; interfaces with Project Controls, Quality, SHE and Contracts
• Gathers project metrics from estimators and updates databases; maps cost estimates to phase budgets
• Prepares bid tabs, coordinates subcontractor proposals and material pricing, and supports client communications
• Prepares and coordinates content of Proposal documents across functional departments
