Job summary

Apex Clean Energy is seeking a Project Manager, Preconstruction, to lead early to late-stage activities for utility-scale renewables. You will manage schedules, budgets, risk analysis, and change control while coordinating with stakeholders to ensure smooth hand-offs to the Execution team.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in engineering or PM, experience in pre-construction of renewable projects, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management; advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years of related engineering or project management experience
• Experience managing pre-construction of multiple renewable energy projects
• Experience with project controls for early-stage industrial engineering, procurement, and pre-construction
• Proficient in English; strong communication and collaboration
• Willingness to travel 20-30%
• Ability to work at headquarters in Charlottesville, VA

Responsibilities

• Manage project schedules from early-stage development through hand-off at late-stage development
• Manage project budgets and ensure alignment with management-approved plans
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure successful hand-off with Execution Project Management team
• Oversee EPC RFP process, Q&A sessions, shortlisting, and project awards recommendations
• Lead coordination with utilities after Interconnection Agreement execution
• Conduct constructability reviews and risk analyses; manage change processes
• Utilize industry-standard project management tools and best practices
• Maintain high work quality and safe work practices
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
