Overview

The Pre-Construction Manager I will play a key role in the planning and preparation of construction projects, working closely with clients, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects from conception to the start of construction. This position requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to review project specifications, scope, and requirements.
    • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations to gather information and assess project needs.
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, and schedules in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Estimating and Cost Analysis:
    • Conduct quantity take-offs and material quantity estimations based on project drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents.
    • Prepare accurate cost estimates and proposals for steel fabrication and erection services, including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
    • Analyze project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make recommendations to improve project profitability.
  3. Bid Preparation and Submittal:
    • Coordinate bid preparation activities, including soliciting quotes from vendors and subcontractors, and preparing bid packages.
    • Ensure compliance with bid requirements, specifications, and deadlines, and submit bids in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    • Review and analyze bid results, including cost comparisons and competitor analysis, to inform future bidding strategies.
  4. Client Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the pre-construction phase.
    • Act as a primary point of contact for client inquiries, providing timely and accurate information and addressing concerns or issues as needed.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities and develop strategies to meet client needs.
  5. Technical Support and Documentation:
    • Provide technical support and expertise to clients and internal teams on steel fabrication and erection methods, materials, and industry best practices.
    • Prepare and review technical documentation, including project specifications, drawings, and construction documents, to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
    • Maintain organized and up-to-date project files, records, and documentation for reference and historical purposes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in pre-construction, estimating, or project management, preferably in the construction or steel industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods, with knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
