Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks a Preconstruction Manager with a strong understanding of estimating principles. Depending on the project, you may be the primary contact for the Owner and design team, or you may support a Preconstruction Director on complex pursuits.

You will lead bid processes, maintain stakeholder relationships, track budgets, and ensure contract documents and schedules are managed effectively across diverse projects. Strong leadership and communication are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
• 5-10 years of estimating, design management, and/or field management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Experience managing preconstruction for diverse projects.
• Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-perform work.
• Proven ability to lead teams and develop employees.
• Self-starter with high motivation.
• Strong communication skills to influence diverse audiences.
• Align behaviors with McCarthy core values and add value in preconstruction.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interviews and interview preparation for negotiated bids, acting as Bid Captain on pursuits and leading estimate/bid process team meetings.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, internal clients and other stakeholders.
• Track and manage project budget.
• Prepare qualifications for project that align with contractual obligations and submit documents for legal review.
• Implement and oversee preconstruction and construction schedule.
• Assist in training and development of project staff and manage risk with safety programs.
• Manage and maintain all documentation/deliverables and present to the owner.
• Represent McCarthy at design and coordination meetings and assist in design decisions.
• Participate in prequalification, respond to RFPs/RFQs, manage buyout log and chart of accounts.
