Job summary

Alston Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for the Cold Storage Division in Downers Grove, IL. The role leads estimating, bid packages, and early project planning to secure profitable work, while supporting business development and risk assessment.

Responsibilities include coordinating design documents, taking-off trades, and negotiating with clients and subcontractors. Requires 8+ years in estimating and a CM/Engineering/Architecture degree, with OSHA 10 and related certifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years estimating experience for a general contractor.
• Design-build and value-engineering experience.
• Osha 10-hour, First Aid/CPR certifications.
• Valid state driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist management in preconstruction, coordination, and successful project completion.
• Develop cost estimates across design phases and permit documents.
• Identify value-engineered alternatives and bid strategies.
• Transition estimates to project management and assist in change orders.
• Support business development and client presentations.
