Job summary

Engtal is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team in Connecticut. You will develop estimates from concept to bid, perform detailed cost analyses, and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to craft competitive proposals.

You will review drawings and specs for constructability and risk, participate in value engineering, and work closely with project teams to ensure a smooth handoff into construction while maintaining strong subcontractor relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating or preconstruction within commercial or industrial construction.
• Understanding of construction costs, drawings, specifications, and trade scopes.
• Ability to develop accurate estimates and compare subcontractor proposals.
• Comfortable working directly with subcontractors, project teams, and clients.
• Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
• Resourceful, takes ownership, communicates well, and enjoys teamwork.
• Construction-related degree preferred, but equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates from conceptual design through final bid.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost analysis.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop scopes of work and identify potential gaps.
• Review drawings and specifications for constructability, risk, and cost impacts.
• Participate in value engineering and preconstruction planning.
• Work with project teams to ensure a smooth handoff from estimating into construction.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and industry partners.
