Job summary

Metric Geo in Stamford, CT is seeking a Project Engineer / Estimator to support projects from initial estimate through execution. This role combines technical review with commercial duties in a growing excavation and sitework contractor.

You’ll prepare takeoffs, review drawings, manage submittals, coordinate with project teams, and help with pricing and subcontractor coordination on earthwork and civil projects.

Qualifications

I’m working with an established and growing excavation and sitework contractor in the Stamford area that is looking to add a Project Engineer / Estimator to its team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in both the technical and commercial side of construction, supporting projects from the initial estimate through to execution.

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing quantity takeoffs and assisting with project estimates
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and bid documents
• Preparing and managing submittals
• Supporting project teams with documentation, procurement and coordination
• Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents and senior leadership
• Assisting with pricing, bid packages and subcontractor/vendor coordination
• Getting involved in a variety of excavation, sitework and civil construction projects

What we're looking for:

• Experience as a Project Engineer, Estimator or similar construction role
• Strong experience with quantity takeoffs and construction estimating
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Earthwork, excavation, sitework or heavy civil experience is highly desirable, but not essential
• Candidates from other construction backgrounds with strong estimating experience will also be considered
• Organized, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced contractor environment

This role will be primarily office-based in Stamford, CT, offering the opportunity to join a growing contractor and develop across both project engineering and estimating.
