Job summary

Eastern Commercial, the commercial general contracting division of Eastern Companies, seeks a Preconstruction Engineer to develop estimates, analyze costs, and support early-budget decisions for diverse projects in education, healthcare, and government sectors.

You will collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to review designs, validate pricing assumptions, and ensure accurate handoffs for execution. A strong technical background and proactive communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience in construction estimating or preconstruction.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of estimating principles and methods.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specs, and digital tools.
• Support development of conceptual, schematic, and GMP budgets across project phases.
• Maintain organized cost breakdowns and support bid submissions with leadership.
