Job summary

Eastern Companies is seeking an experienced estimator to join our team. You will review proposal specifications and drawings, determine scope, and prepare discipline estimates with complete takeoffs.

You will maintain working documents, stay current on supplier prices, and support other departments by preparing estimates in additional disciplines. You will review design options and recommend the most cost-effective solutions based on cost, quality, and materials availability.

Qualifications

• Four year degree or equivalent combinations technical training and/or experience.
• 2-5 years estimating in construction or a similar field.
• Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control; ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
• Support other department personnel as required may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
• Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
