Position Summary
As a Preconstruction Engineer Intern, you will support the preconstruction team by preparing estimates for various projects, sharing responsibility for cost accuracy, with the project team. The internship offers hand‑on experience, working closely with our estimators and managers in all types of estimating tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Support
- Performs quantity take-offs.
- Assists in the pricing and bidding of construction projects.
- Communicate with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and document these clarifications.
- Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities.
- Actively participates in the internal estimate review process.
- Assists with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner.
- After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for future reference.
- Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed.
Subcontractor Analysis for Bids
- Directs, coordinates and provides information and documents to subcontractors.
- Prepares contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts.
- Participate in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvements and innovation in construction methods, materials, and technology
- Analyze project performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, and apply this knowledge to enhance company operations

Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand construction documents
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and Bluebeam
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn and contribute
Additional Information
- This is a summer internship position expected to run approximately 9 to 12 weeks, depending on the intern's start date. Internships will typically begin in May or June and conclude in August.
- This is an hourly internship position.
- Local candidates only; relocation is not available for this position.

Anticipated Hourly Rate
$30.00 per hour
