Job summary

CORE Builders is seeking a Field Engineer Intern to support the field team with construction activities, document control, and quality assurance on a summer project in San Jose, CA. The 9–12 week internship runs May/June through August and pays $30 per hour.

This on-site role develops skills under Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, including site coordination, safety practices, and document management using Procore and Bluebeam. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and understand construction documents.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and Bluebeam.
• Self-starter with a willingness to learn and contribute.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tracking field activities and subcontractor progress
• Participate in inspection walks and site coordination
• Support communication of schedule updates and neighborhood relations
• Learn to interpret project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
• Participate in weekly safety walks and document observations
• Support monitoring of SWPPP conditions throughout the project
• Learn and follow CORE Builders' safety protocols and OSHA standards
• Assist with creating and maintaining submittal and RFI logs
• Help track submittals and RFIs using Procore
• Support meeting documentation including agendas and minutes
• Provide field updates and take daily progress photos
• Assist with distributing follow-up correspondence and documentation
• Participate in construction meetings such as Foreman, Preconstruction, and Mock-Up
• Help create PDF exhibits for coordination
• Upload and manage documents in Procore
• Redline plans with RFIs, ASIs, and OSIs
• Demonstrate punctuality and a collaborative spirit
• Learn construction safety practices (e.g., OSHA 30)
• Develop written and verbal communication skills

Additional Information:

• This is a summer internship position expected to run approximately 9 to 12 weeks, depending on the intern's start date. Internships will typically begin in May or June and conclude in August.

Anticipated Hourly Rate:

$30.00 per hour
