Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc. in Fort Collins, CO seeks an experienced commercial HVAC estimator to strengthen our estimating and preconstruction capacity. This hands-on role involves developing budgets, takeoffs and competitive estimates for projects ranging from $50,000 to $10 million.

You will review drawings, collaborate with owners, GCs, engineers and suppliers, and guide preconstruction activities to ensure accurate scope and cost assumptions. Five+ years of estimating experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of relevant experience preferred; practical field, PM or engineering experience valued.
• Proven commercial HVAC/mechanical estimating experience and knowledge of airside, refrigerant, piping, hydronic systems, mechanical equipment and installation methods.
• Experience with design-build/design-assist and/or plans-and-specifications estimating; ability to manage complex estimates and deadlines.
• Estimating software and Excel proficiency; QuoteSoft, FastDUCT, and Bluebeam experience helpful.
• Strong communication, sound judgment and collaborative problem solving across estimating, project management and field operations.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop conceptual budgets, detailed takeoffs and competitive estimates for commercial HVAC projects, including labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs.
• Review drawings, specifications and field conditions; identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, schedule constraints and risks.
• Work with owners, GCs, engineers and suppliers on design-build/design-assist concepts, alternatives and value engineering.
• Solicit and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations; prepare proposals, inclusions, exclusions and supporting estimate files.
• Coordinate with project management and field operations at award to explain scope, cost assumptions, procurement needs and project risks.
• Support agreed-upon preconstruction and startup activities, including equipment coordination and resolution of estimate/design questions, with clear accountability for project execution remaining with project management.
• Use actual project outcomes and feedback to improve estimating assumptions, processes and teamwork.

Position Opportunity: Air Comfort is looking for an experienced commercial HVAC estimator to strengthen our estimating and preconstruction capacity. This is a hands‑on estimating role working alongside other experienced estimators—not a chief estimator or department‑management position. Our projects generally range from $50,000 to $10 million and include design‑build, design‑assist and plans-and-specifications work.
