Job summary

Goldbelt Apex, LLC is seeking a Preclinical Laboratory Research Assistant to support preclinical laboratory research, including behavioral assessments, pathophysiology, and molecular mechanisms. You will manage data, perform literature reviews, and help prepare research protocols.

Responsibilities include coordinating projects, performing animal procedures, and navigating IACUC/HURC for approvals, with a focus on blast-induced neurotrauma research in a collaborative team in Silver Spring, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field required.
• 3–5 years of experience in preclinical laboratory research.
• Experience with animal handling, aseptic procedures, and surgical techniques.
• Proficiency in data collection, management, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to develop research proposals and navigate protocol approvals.

Responsibilities

• Develop research proposals aligned with the military medical mission of Blast-Induced Neurotrauma research.
• Prepare written animal use and/or human subject protocols for research objectives.
• Navigate IACUC and HURC to obtain protocol approvals.
• Conduct literature reviews and develop summaries relevant to research in blast TBI and polytrauma.
• Coordinate research projects, including experiment design and supervision of staff.
• Provide subject matter expertise in traumatic brain injury and polytrauma.
• Perform routine and specialized surgical procedures on animal subjects.
• Evaluate neuroprotective therapies using various outcome measures.
• Perform quantitative analyses of molecular and cellular responses to stressors.
