Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant II to support Traumatic Brain Injury research in the NeuroTrauma Department at NMRC, Silver Spring, MD.

You will perform standard laboratory experiments, manage data, and contribute to publications and presentations under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with animal surgeries, histology, and molecular assays, maintaining databases, and training junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in biology, neuroscience, or a related discipline required.
• Knowledge of neuroscience and cellular/molecular biology techniques is required.
• Hands-on experience with molecular techniques such as PCR and ELISA; histological techniques; animal handling and surgery.
• Excellent time management and self-motivation.
• Ability to follow general instructions and work both in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in executing and implementing scientific research in neuroscience and traumatic brain injury.
• Perform laboratory research using techniques in neuroscience, psychology, and cellular biology.
• Maintain databases and ensure data confidentiality and timely data entry.
• Prepare reports, publications, and presentations from research findings.
• Provide basic instruction to other lab staff and train junior team members.
