Job summary

Goldbelt Apex LLC is seeking an experienced Preclinical Laboratory Researcher for a potential five-year contract. The role involves planning and writing detailed analysis specifications, managing data, and producing analyses, tables, and figures.

  • In-depth knowledge of traumatic brain injury and polytrauma.
  • Ability to guide and develop new technical methods for neuroscience research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research proposals aligned with military medical mission.
  • Prepare animal use and human subjects protocols and obtain approvals.
  • Navigate IACUC and HURC processes and address review concerns.
  • Conduct literature reviews and prepare summary reports on blast TBI & polytrauma.
  • Design and coordinate experiments and direct research staff.
  • Provide expertise in traumatic brain injury and polytrauma.
  • Perform and interpret physiological recordings and surgical procedures.
  • Analyze molecular/cellular responses using IHC, proteomics, PCR, Western blot, ELISA.
  • Prepare tissue for light microscopy and analyze histopathology.

Summary

Goldbelt Apex is looking for an experienced Preclinical Laboratory Researcher for a potential five (5) year contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and writing detailed specifications for analysis, managing data, and producing analyses, data tables, and figures. They will also communicate statistical analyses and data issues with the Principal Investigator, study staff, collaborators, and clients. Additionally, the Supervisor Statistician will direct duties and assign tasks to work unit statisticians and data support personnel, interpret analyses, write statistical sections of study reports, and design and conduct all aspects of research while providing scientific input into the research process in low-level blast environment characterization. This a Temporary Full Time Position.

Responsibilities
  • Developing Research Proposals:
    • Align proposals with the military medical mission.
    • Prepare animal use and human subjects protocols.
    • Navigate the WRAIR IACUC and HURC for protocol approval.
    • Address concerns raised during protocol reviews.
  • Conducting Literature Reviews:
    • Review scientific literature relevant to ongoing research.
    • Develop summary reports of existing literature, particularly in blast TBI and polytrauma.
  • Coordinating Research Projects:
    • Design and coordinate experiments.
    • Direct research staff and collaborators.
    • Provide insights into experimental objectives and techniques.
  • Providing Subject Matter Expertise:
    • Offer guidance in traumatic brain injury and polytrauma.
    • Perform complex tasks and develop new technical methods for research.
  • Assessing Physiological and Neurosensory Functions:
    • Handle animals, perform aseptic procedures, and monitor routine care.
    • Conduct specialized surgical procedures and physiological recordings.
  • Evaluating Neuroprotective Pharmacological Therapies:
    • Use various outcome measures to assess therapies.
    • Perform tests like electroretinography, ABR, DPOAE, and more.
  • Performing Quantitative Analytical Assessments:
    • Analyze molecular and cellular responses using immunohistochemistry, proteomics, PCR, Western blot, and ELISA.
  • Preparing Tissue for Light Microscopy:
    • Assess histopathological features of injuries.
    • Use microscopy and software applications for data analysis.
  • Performing Laboratory-Based Actions:
    • Engage in tasks related to radiofrequency engineering and associated equipment.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficiency in developing and executing research proposals and protocols, including navigating the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Human Use Review Committee (HURC) processes.
  • Expertise in conducting literature reviews and summarizing scientific literature.
  • Advanced skills in assessing physiological and neurosensory functions, performing surgical procedures, and employing aseptic techniques. Ability to evaluate neuroprotective pharmacological therapies using various outcome measures.
  • Proficiency in quantitative analytical techniques such as immunohistochemistry, proteomics, lipidomics, PCR, Western blot, and ELISA.
  • In-depth knowledge of traumatic brain injury and polytrauma.
  • Ability to provide guidance and develop new technical methods for neuroscience and injury research.
  • Strong data management and statistical analysis skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with research staff and collaborators.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in a relevant field such as neuroscience, biology, pharmacology, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of postdoctoral experience in preclinical research, particularly in areas related to traumatic brain injury (TBI), polytrauma, and neuroscience.
  • Experience coordinating research projects, including designing experiments and directing research staff.
  • Experience preparing tissue for light microscopy and using relevant software applications for data analysis.
  • US Citizen - Must be able to obtain and maintain up to a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in blast research setting actively involved in study design, or equivalent experience a plus.
  • Military experience is a plus.
Pay And Benefits

The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $130, 000.00 annually.
