Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation in University Park, IL, is seeking an assembler for light mechanical and electrical assembly. You will read blueprints and work from schedules, requisition materials, and move items between storage and production areas.

The role requires a high school diploma and experience with power tools and hand tools. You will operate various gauges and meters, support set-up of work cells, and follow safety rules. Wage range $19.02–$22.84 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Experience with light mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
• Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, pallet jacks, hand trucks, fixed gauges, jigs, meters, soldering irons, riveters, presses and crimping tools.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Works from blueprints, schedules, shop orders, specification sheets, process instructions and test.
• Reviews production schedules for specific periods and arranges for parts, materials, supplies, tooling and other equipment to meet production.
• Requisitions and stores.
• Passes Kan Ban cards to producing departments per defined.
• Accumulates and moves items between storage areas and work.
• Follows safety rules and keeps work cell area clean and orderly.
